Happy New Year!

Long time since the last post. I been super busy working on the place. Right now we are completely full. 3 days ago i improvised a room at the roof and a couple from Sweden took the room and are supoer happy. I think is the best room now on the place even like it is without air condition. The same couple are organizing a New years eve party for the guests. I think they met everyone in the place. I think is going to be fun. I am really anjoying the place and the people right now.

I have guests from Nigeria, Sweden, korea, NY, Mexico, Seattle, Paris, New Orleans, Germany,Chicago,Toronto, Switzerland between others. I am really having fun taking care of the guests and seeing them enjoy the place. I can say is the place is looking and working better than ever.

Orin Walters "Afronaught"

Orin is other of my partners in my other record label ABCD A Bitasweet Candela Dubplate we have almost 50 songs together and we are releasing them slowly and will finalize with a book with notes from a lot of friends collaborators around the world. Orin is also founder of the UK collective Bugz in the Attic. He also owns Bitasweet records. If you ever go to the UK you can visit him and all the best djs/producers/mc's from the UK on their famous night Coop.

Fela Kuti

I forgot to say that Nickodemus painting was done by Heavyweight friends from Montreal if you want a portrait or a live performance , let me know and i put you in touch. Here is one of our heroes Fela Kuti father of the AFROBEAT. This paiting was done live at a Antibalas concert a while ago. It took me a while to convince HVW8 to sell me this one. But is fine they come everyyear and see it here.

Nickodemus

Like i said before the theme of the Hotel will be Music and the rooms will be name after record labels and musicians. Here is the one and only Nickodemus founder of the infamous parties Turntables on the Hudson. He owns a label call Wonder Wheel Recordings we been working in music together since the 90's. We did together with Quantic and Nickodemus "Mi Swing es Tropical" de song in ipod comercials.

Paint Paintings!

Yeah is looking very nice! Next week we will put some illumination on the front and will start with the roof and interiors. I took some pictures of the paintings around the building. Here we go i'll see if i can publish all of them.

Now we're talking!

Ok we have some progress today. They clean the whole front and start painting the left side of the building. Is looking great!! I had a meeting with the guests producers and i introduce them to the local producers and gave us some music to do a remix or a couple of versions of this ring tone from a movie call "one missed call" is for universal music, but is from a Japanesse producer. Let's see what happens and cross our fingers.I think that tomorrow they will finish the front if it doesn't rain. I will post the pictures.
Laurent and friends some french guests that stayed las week at Casa Candela came back today and took a room for one night. We like when the people come back! It feels like a friend that is coming. Maybe is because the place is new, but we really apreciate that they came back. Specially when we are under construction.Ok i have to go to work tonight.I hope i have time to write tomorrrow!

Finally we started Chhhhhanges!

Finally atrtes fixing the front. Hopefully we will clean the whole fachade tomorrow and for Friday will paint the right side of the front of the building. I am receiving a lot of reservations everyday. It looks like is going to be a very busy season at Casa Candela. I know that people will like it. Last year 80% of the people left very happy and we wasn't offering a lot of things. Today we had a call from a guests couple that stay with us last week. And tomorrow we will be collaborating on the Candela Recordings studio. We talked a lot about music and they didn't told me they where both kind of big producers and singer! they heard the song that i produced for the Worldwide apple Ipod advertising campaign "Mi swing es tropical" and they liked it. So let's see what happens tomorrow! I will start posting photos of the progress. I was checking www.tripadvisor.com and they have a lot of good and not so good reviews, but i think is perfect for the first year and myself doing everything. You can look there and will find a lot of nice photos also of the building. Ok thats it for today. I hope i have sometime to write more and update this thing. Looking forward for the Chhhhhanges!
